The 2011 Flexifoil kite lineup has went through an extensive process of research and development, and the Flexifoil team has put a lot of effort and work in the design of the new models to make sure they will cover all styles and skill levels. The 2011 Proton is a SLE kite which is intended to offer top freeride, freestyle and wave riding performance. The kite is very user friendly and mainly targets beginner riders, but it has plenty of power and reaches a nice speed, so even advanced riders can enjoy a nice session while riding it.
The Flexifoil team has worked together with pro rider and freestyle champ Aaron Hadlow to make sure that it offers performance close to perfection. The kite is easy to use, very predictable and highly reliable in all wind conditions.
The new 2011 Flexifoil Proton follows the steps of the previous versions in terms of all round performance and reliability, but it is enhanced to take freestyle and freeride to whole new levels. The kite is easy to power up due to the use of a One Pump system based on a single inflation point called E-Z Inflation, and once it is set in the air it becomes very light and agile. The moderate aspect ratio, combined with the innovative “nose up” position and the refined profile significantly improve stability and the overall maneuverability.
Additional stability and a responsive steering are provided by the four strut configuration and the improved bridle system. Depending on his needs, the rider can operate the Proton with a four or five line setup. The struts diameter has been reconfigured, to optimize the tension and make the kite fly smooth and drag free. The aerofoil is enhanced to assure a good power boost for the rider looking for increased hangtime or big jumps. At the same time the Flexifoil team has worked to improve the low end and upwind performance of the kite. Great thing about the Proton is that it provides an optimized control bar pressure, so it is easy to steer and maneuver. The kite is very responsive and behaves predictable in any wind conditions. No matter what maneuvers the rider performs it is safe and reliable. The kite is very easy to relaunch, and requires little or no effort from the rider, and for extra safety it has a quick depower option. Flexifoil has also paid a lot of attention to the construction technology.
The canopy is protected by a Dacron cage, while the leading edge features Kevlar and Neoprene reinforcements. This reinforced construction is also light and we can say that the Flexifoil Proton has a perfect weight to aspect ratio. The kite comes in 5, 7, 9 and 12 square meters sizes and Red, Blue and Green color styles.
